Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with gold.

After my mastectomy, one surgeon praised my other surgeon as “an artist.” A seed was planted and it grew into this - an exploration of surgery as art and body as canvas.

While the Kintsugi-style gold is exclusive to the scars I have from breast cancer surgery, gold flutters across my body as the experience touched every piece of me.
